Indiana Sheep and Wool funds new projects

WEST LAFAYETTE Ind. — Despite having to do virtual meetings and events for most of the year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Indiana Sheep and Wool Market Development Council is moving forward and funding new projects that will promote the state’s lamb and wool industries.

Meredith Cobb, a research administration specialist at Purdue University who works with the council, said the council recently had a meeting where it decided how sheep checkoff funding wound be spent.

She said the Indiana Sheep Association decided to upgrade its website with Indiana Sheep and Wool to make one website.

“We're trying to make it easier for people to find information on sheep and wool,” said Cobb, adding that the project was just officially funded and is in the beginning stages.

Another project that was funded is for a Washington County 4-H Club, which requested funding to do activities to help provide educational programs and keep kids engaged during 4-H meetings.

“The council is working to promote sheep and wool products throughout Indiana, as well as research and education opportunities,” Cobb said.
